The Kings Forest is just 4 miles outside Bury St Edmunds, easily accessible from East Anglia, London and the East Midlands. The event offers a wonderful traffic free course on forest tracks.

Distance: 50km

Suitable for: Experienced marathon runners, familiar with off-road running.

Medals: All finishers will be awarded a bespoke medal.

Places available: 200

Event Details

Start time: 8 am

Results details: We use chip (electronic) timing at our events, and also may be manually recording your race number at checkpoints/finish for safety reasons. Please ensure your race number is clearly visible to marshals at all times. We will endeavour to check & publish results within 48 hours of the event finish.

Entry cost: Attached Entry Fee (per person) £28.00 Unattached Entry Fee (per person) £30.00

Refunds: You will be entitled to a 60% refund if you are unable to take part, up until 6 weeks before the day of the race.

Deferment: If you wish to defer your entry to the following year due to injury then you may do so up until 3 weeks before the day of the race, to allow us to fill your place.

Transfers: of a place to another participant will be allowed with permission of the Race Director up until 2 weeks before the day of the race.

Race numbers: Participants to collect on the day at registration.

Cut off: Everyone to be finished by 3.15pm

Personal drinks: Boxes for each check point will be available at registration for runners personal drinks. These need to be clearly labelled with name/race number.

Refreshments: Drinks & snacks will be provided at the checkpoint that you will pass at the finish of each lap.

First aid: First-aiders will be present at the Start/Finish and along the course. If you develop medical problems, please alert the nearest marshal and prompt assistance will be provided.

Special info: The race forms part of Positive Steps Grand Slam. The other races are Norfolk 100km & Peddars Way Ultra. All 3 must be completed within a 12 months period to be awarded the Grand Slam.

Friends/family: Supporters are most welcome at our events. The West Stow venue has parking (please bring change), toilets and an on-site cafe open to the public.

A  course of 12.5km  will be repeated four times, which will be clearly marked 

There will be one aid station on each circuit.

The course is off road* and traffic free using footpaths and tracks across breckland and in the forest.

* At the start and end of each lap runners will cross the road back into West Stow Country Park. These are the only road crossing and will be marshalled.

The surfaces are generally good, and are suitable for normal road shoes.

 


Finish line: All finishers will be presented with a specially commissioned medal, and refreshments

Race Rules

To enter the race, you must be aged 21 years or over on the date of the race

We strongly suggest that you are comfortable with distance running (preferably marathon distance as a minimum) and also have experience of running off-road

Anyone caught littering on the course be disqualified from the race

Runners compete in this event entirely at their own risk. There will be a full waiver to sign at registration. No runner will be allowed to compete without signing this waiver

Pacers will not be permitted during this run

The course is not suitable for wheelchairs

Race Numbers

A runner other than yourself must not use your race number. It must not be cut, folded or mutilated in any way and must be fastened securely to the front of your vest or top. Please fill in the personal information required on the reverse side including relevant medical information and contact numbers to aid race staff in the event of an emergency.
