Nordic Walking

Unfortunately once again we have had to postpone our regular Nordic Walks, tasters and introductory courses.

As soon as the restrictions are lifted and it is safe, we will be running introductory courses in Ickworth NT on a weds morning/evening, West Stow Country Park on a Sat morning and at Needham Lake on a Mon morning.

Once you have completed the two introductory session you can join our regular Nordic Walking activities. There will be a follow up technique session after about a month.

Unfortunately we will have to postpone the Peddars Way Ultra scheduled for 23 January and the Marriotts Way Half Marathon and Marathon on Sunday 14 February. we are committed to both events going ahead and once we are in clearer position we will be working on new dates

Entries are currently closed. Once we are happy that the event will go ahead will invite those on the pre entry waiting list to complete their entry. In the meantime, keep training!

Marriott’s Way Trail Marathon and Half Marathon 2021 - POSTPONED

Covid Update - Entries currently closed. On our pre entry waiting list we have far more than we will be able to accommodate. Currently look at options for this popular race. Once we are happy that the event will go ahead those on pre entry waiting list will be invited to complete their entry. Entrants will be invited in date order. We are hoping to achieve this by early January. Please bear with us.

The Marathon follows the Marriott’s Way from Norwich with Half-Marathon starting at Whitwell station. Both races will finish at the Town Hall in Aylsham Market Square.

Runners of all abilities welcome, including complete beginners. Walkers also welcome too.

Traffic free courses on disused railway line. A team of East Anglia Air Ambulance volunteers will be joining the support crew. £5 of your entry fee will be donated to the EAAA.

All finishers will be awarded a medal.

Distance: 13.1 or 26.2 miles approx.

Suitable for: Runners of all abilities are welcome including complete beginners. Walkers are also welcome.

Medals: All finishers will be awarded a bespoke medal.

Places available: to be confirmed - dependant on Covid restrictions.

Event Details

Start time: Marathon 9:00am, Half-Marathon: 10:30am

Entry details: You will be put a on pre entry waiting list to reduce both your financial risk and ours! Once we are happy that the event will go ahead you will be invited you to complete your entry. We are hoping to achieve this by early January. In the meantime, keep training! If you have not used Si Entries previously you will need to create an account with before entering. Once you have entered and paid you will receive confirmation and other correspondence about the race via Si Entries. Initially this may go into your spam box. If you need to amend any details of your entry you can log into your account at anytime and edit your entry. If you misplace any emails about the race you can go to message history and retrieve all emails.

Results details: We will be using gun time, we will also manually record your race number at checkpoints/finish for safety reasons. Please ensure your race number is clearly visible to marshals at all times. We will endeavour to check & publish results within 48 hours of the event finish.

Entry cost: Entry Costs UKA affiliated*: £32 Full Marathon and £28 Half Marathon. Non-UKA affiliated +£2 per entry *UKA affiliated entries must quote UKA URN on entry

Refunds: Up to 6 weeks before the day of the race you will be entitled to 60% refund if you are unable to take part.

Transfers: Transfer to another runner/walker permitted via the SI entry system up until entries close (usually the weekend before the event)

Transport: Due to Covid we will not be able to provide transport in 2021. Please make sure you make arrangments to get to the start and be picked up from the finish.

Postponement: Should it be necessary to postpone the race due to no fault of Positive Steps Fitness and Wellbeing Ltd, we will reschedule the event to another date in the current year or in the following year. Participants will be given the option to transfer to the rescheduled event or to be given a voucher code of an equivalent value for a future event.

Race numbers: Collected on the day.

Drop bag: N/A

Personal drinks: N/A

Refreshments: Drinks & snacks will be provided at checkpoints.

First aid: First Aiders will be present at the start/finish and along the course. If you develop medical problems, please alert the nearest marshal and prompt assistance will be provided.

Traffic free course on a disused railway line.

This is a one-lap flat course which will be clearly marked. There will be drinks stations every 7 miles approx.The course is traffic free but does cross a number of busy roads, these will be marshalled.

The surfaces are generally good, and are suitable for normal road shoes.

The course has not been measured by a UKA approved course measurer, therefore the distances are approximate.

Race Rules

Minimum age on race day: (18) Full Marathon; (17) Half Marathon

No person (except a blind runner’s attendant) may accompany a competitor at any point on the course.

All competitors must compete on foot.

The course is not suitable for wheelchairs.

All competitors must be finished by 5:00pm

A runner other than yourself must not use your race number. It must not be cut, folded or mutilated in any way and must be fastened securely to the front of your vest or top. Please fill in the personal information required on the reverse side including relevant medical information and contact numbers to aid race staff in the event of an emergency.
